Elisabeth Hadley British

Elisabeth Hadley's bronze sculptures are instantly recognisable by their beauty of form, their sensuality and their strength, whether it is a classical female figure, a rearing horse, or a fantastical creature from Greek mythology.

Born in Rotherham, South Yorkshire Elisabeth moved to Brixham, Devon in 1997 and has worked since then in her studio sculpting her beautiful, graceful and sensual figures.

Her interest and talent for sculpting the human form first developed while studying for a B.A (Hons.) in Ceramics at Bristol Polytechnic. Elisabeth then spent a year with Aardman Animations as a freelance model maker, working on several TV commercials and short animated films.

Elisabeth then gained a three-year sponsorship to study at the prestigious Sir Henry Doulton School of Sculpture in Staffordshire, where she gained her great knowledge of traditional sculpting techniques - anatomy, life drawing, life sculpting and mould making.

Elisabeth is widely travelled, having back-packed through several countries, though it was visiting Kenya that was the most inspirational and sparked off a series of beautiful sculptures, which capture the poise and grace of the African form.

Elisabeth has completed several major commissions including Miranda, a life-size mermaid situated at the mouth of the river Dart,  a Greek-style water feature in Taunton, and the iconic Man and Boy lifesize memorial celebrating the fishing industry on Kings Quay, Brixham.
