"My work explores the people, places, landscapes and seascapes of the southwest of England, Europe and the East Coast of America. I often paint en plein air, on the beach or in the landscape, while undertaking more considered works in gouache, oil and larger acrylic paintings in my studio."

 

Phil Creek gained a BA Degree in Fine Art from Manchester University and a Post-graduate Degree in The History of Art from Birmingham University. He was Head of Creative Arts at Honiton Community College, Director of Course at The Beaford Art Centre, and County Art Adviser for Devon. He is now a full-time painter living in East Devon.

 

Exhibitions include The Royal Albert Memorial Museum and Art Gallery, Exeter; The Royal Society of Marine Artists and Royal Institute of Oil Painters at The Mall Galleries, London; The Penwith, St Ives; Falmouth Art Gallery, The Brownston Gallery; Modbury; The Vandlys Gallerie; Exeter and The Royal West of England Academy, Bristol.

 

Phil's painting explores the landscapes and seascapes of the southwest of England, particularly in Devon and the East Coast of America. He often paints en plein air, on the beach or in the landscape, Phil also undertakes his gouache and larger acrylic paintings in his recently converted home studio. The artists he admires most include Fred Cuming, Andrew Wyeth and Edward Hopper and the English greats JMW turner and John Constable.

 

Phil is an Honorary Member of The South West Academy of Fine and Applied Arts (SWAc) and previous Chair, he is an exhibiting member of The National Acrylic Painters Association (NAPA), he also continues as The President of Otter Vale Art Society (OVAS)

and Vice President of Budleigh Art Club.

 

He was awarded The Adrian Henrie Prize by The National Association of Painters in Acrylic at their Annual Exhibition and also The Dartmoor Magazine Prize for the best entry into The Greenhill Arts Open Exhibition in 2024.
