From "Barry Discovers The Chocolate Fudge Sundae", "Walking The Dog" and "Was it something I said?" to "The Girl on The Beach" Geoff explores various unrelated, humorous, and sometimes mysterious narrative themes connected by his preoccupation and fascination with dynamic and oblique angles, the intimate view, and conflicts of scale.
Originally a Graphic Designer and Art Director, Geoff Shillito became a dedicated fine artist from the mid 1990s. In 2005 he was elected a member of the Bath Society of Artists, and in 2020 elected an Academician of the South West Acdemy.
He has exhibited widely both nationally and internationally, notably at The Brownston Gallery, Modbury, The Realismus Gallery, Berlin, The Royal West of England Academy, Bristol, The Victoria Art Gallery and The Holburne Museum, Bath, and in London at The Royal Academy, The Royal Society of British Artists, and The Royal Institute of Oil Painters.
He has received many awards including: The Brownston Gallery Award for Painting, SWAC Open Exhibition 2019; Runner-up The Evolver Prize 2019; The Public Choice Prize, Wells Art Contemporary Exhibition 2012; Millfield Summer Open Exhibition 2007; Public Choice Award, Royal West of England Academy of Arts 2006; The Les Matthews Oil Painting Prize, Bath Society of Artists Annual Exhibition 2005.
